El Aneek (الأنيق) and El Aneeka (الأنيقة): a national chain of shops for him and her under GiveBack to Algeria
Overview
GiveBack to Algeria is developing a national retail programme in Algeria built around two complementary brands:
El Aneek for men
El Aneeka for women
The goal is to deliver a consistent, modern shopping experience, create sustainable jobs, strengthen local supply, and reinvest revenues into further public value projects across all 69 wilayas.
Project snapshot
Funding allocation: 10% of the initiative’s project funding
Total allocation: €320,625,000
Estimated number of projects: 100 shops
Average cost per shop: €3,206,250
Why Algeria needs these chains
Closing key retail gaps: customers increasingly want specialist, reliable shops with clear standards.
Building customer trust: consistent quality, clear sizing, transparent pricing, returns policy, trained service.
Job creation at scale: store roles plus career pathways in management, merchandising, logistics, marketing, and customer care.
Backing Algerian suppliers: structured procurement and longer term contracts for workshops, factories, designers, and cooperatives.
Reinvestment model (GBTA): profits are not privately distributed, but reinvested to expand the network and fund other national priorities.

Why women run El Aneeka shops for women

Wider social impact: stronger participation in the formal economy and long term professional networks.
Store concept and formats
To scale across the country:
Standard city shops in key urban areas.
Local mid size shops in secondary towns.
Flagship stores in major hubs with fuller ranges and enhanced services.
Service corners can be added depending on demand (Groom for El Aneek, beauty consultation for El Aneeka).
Supply chain, quality, and local value
Preference for Algerian manufacturing and sourcing where possible: textiles, tailoring, leather goods, footwear, accessories.
Clear quality controls and better stock visibility to reduce waste and improve availability.
A pathway for young designers and small producers to enter a national distribution network.
Governance, transparency, and reinvestment
Within the GBTA framework:
Asset lock principles to protect public interest assets.
Profit reinvestment rather than private distribution.
Regular reporting and measurable performance indicators.
Implementation approach
Regional market research, strategic site selection, brand and service standards, recruitment and training, pilot openings, then phased rollout towards 100 shops, supported by community engagement and partnerships.
